Ajay Devgan’s latest movie Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has hit the screens on Friday. Directed by Om Raut, the movie revolves around Tanhaji Malusare, a military leader of Maratha Empire.
Ajay Devgan latest movie stars Saif Ali Khan in the role of antagonist UdayBhan, commander of the Mughal empire who rages war against the Marathas. Also, the multi-starrer movie features Kajol, Jagapathi Babu, Sharad Kelkar, Luke Kenny and Neha Sharma in leading roles. It has been a long time since the fans have seen Kajol and Ajay Devgan sharing the screen, and this might be one of the reasons why the theaters flooded on Friday. Kajol can be seen playing the role of Tanhaji’s wife Savitribai Malusare. In an interview, when questioned about Ajay Devgan latest movie, he said “With Tanhaji, we are starting a franchise on unsung warriors. This is the first film in that. We would like to make films about people who have been forgotten and have done so much for the country. We want to take this franchise forward because every state has a hero. Not state but these are all national heroes and icons. They are known more in their states than in the country. We want to tell their stories all across the country.”
Talking about his reunion with Ajay Devgan after movies like Omkara and KachcheDhaage, Saif told in an interview that he is happy to receive a role opposite to his personality. He said “I don’t care about image. If I get good work, then it’s a great thing. There should be an image of an actor these days that he is able to pull off different characters and roles. I feel very happy that I got to play a different character. It was one of the most exciting roles in my career.” Ajay Devgan latest movie is his 100th hit on the Indian cinema. With his hard-hitting dialogue “Jis tarah mitti ke har kan main pahad hota hai, har beej main ek jungle, har talwar main ek sena, ussi tarah har ek Maratha main chhupa hai lakh Maratha”, Ajay Devgan has tried really hard to fit in the role of Tanhaji and make him the 17th century Singham.
