Cricket is the most popular game in our country India. People can leave anything at the cost of Cricket. Shortly, BCCI has announced the Annual Award function, which will be held on January 12, 2020, in Mumbai after this first ODI against Australia on January 14, 2020, will be played.

Ck Naydu Award

This prestigious award Ck Naydu Award will be given to Former India captain and member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team Krishnamachari Srikkanth by the BCCI and also to the former Indian women’s captain Anjum Chopra will be the co-recipient of the lifetime achievement award for the year 2019.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Srikkanth and Anjum will be bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement award for their tremendous contributions to Indian cricket. Everyone in BCCI believes that they are perfect choices for the award.

Kris Srikanth Indian cricketer is one of the biggest names which have come out of the Tamil Nadu cricket stable without any confusion apart from another former Indian skipper S Venkataraghavan and Ravichandran Ashwin. They represented India between 1981 and 1992.

Achievements of Kris Srikkanth Indian Cricketer for Lifetime Achievement Award

  • Srikkanth 60-year-old man played 43 Tests, scoring 2062 runs with two hundred and 12 half-centuries.
  • However, it was ODI cricket where he was an entrepreneur, way ahead of his time hitting those daring hook shots off fast bowlers without wearing a helmet.
  • His uttermost glory certainly was the top score of 38 in the Prudential World Cup final in 1983 against a frightening West Indies attack comprising Malcolm Marshall, Joel Garner, Andy Roberts, and Michael Holding.
  • He made a half-century against Pakistan in the Benson and Hedges World Championship of Cricket final in 1985.
  • He was appointed captain in 1989 for a tough tour of Pakistan where Sachin Tendulkar made his first appearance internationally.
  • However, he was removed from captaincy after a drawn series, as it is believed that BCCI official went through with all-powerful Mumbai lobby feedback on his captaincy from umpire John Hampshire.
  • In 1992 Srikkanth retired after the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. 
  • He had served as the chairman of the national selection committee from 2009-12.
  • The Srikanth-led committee was selected for the Indian squad for the 2011 World Cup.
  • He was also associated with the Indian Premier League side Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during its initial years and has been an analyst on various platforms including TV, print and digital.

Achievements of Anjum for Lifetime Achievement Award

  • Anjum, the 42-year-old woman is considered to be one of India’s finest batswomen before Mithali Raj.
  • She is a left-hander and played 12 Tests scoring 548 runs.
  • She has also played 127 ODIs in which she had scored a hundred and 18 fifties.
  • She had also played 18 T20 Internationals.
  • Anjum was also a part of the Indian XI that played in the Women’s World Cup final against Australia in 2005.

Because of their incredible achievements they deserve to be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
