Delhi Olympics to be held in December


The Delhi state Olympic association on 26th October 2017 declared that the Delhi Olympic Games will be organized in the capital city Delhi in the month of December. The games will be held from 9th December 2017 – 18th December 2017. This announcement for the conduction of the games of the sporting event of this big level is to mark the promotion of Olympics as well as the spirit of the sports and sportsmen ship in Delhi.

The scheduled nine days events will be held in 25 different stadiums of Delhi including Talkatora Stadium, Gandhi stadium, National stadium, Thyagaraj stadium complex, Siri fort etc.

The games which will be held include Hockey, Boxing, Wrestling, Weight Lifting, Swimming, Karate, Wushu and 28 other disciplines.

The Olympic wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt is considered as the Brand Ambassador of Delhi Olympic Games, 2017.

India participated in Olympics for the first time ever, in 1900 which was held in Paris. Norman Pritchard, an Angle Indian athlete represented India for the first time during 1900.

It was then in 1919, that Sir Dorabji Tata decided to lay the foundation of a sports body at National level to promote Olympic sport in India and today, the Delhi State Olympic association is conducting the Delhi Olympic Games to promote the sports and sportsmen ship in India.

Well, that’s a nice move towards enhancement of the sports sector in India!
