The consequences surrounding the partition of Sony and Marvel Studios continue, as CEO Tony Vinciquerra declares the most despairing news. He publically declared that the future of Spider-Man will be better if he stays away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has been a difficult time for fans since the fallout of the union.
Though, an inside source gave fans hope when the two rivals sat together to negotiate a new deal. But unfortunately, the meeting came out with no better results other than declaring the future of Spider-Man.
‘Marvel President Kevin Feige will no longer be the Producer of Spider-Man Franchise.’
Sony’s spokesperson said, “Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise”. He added, “We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live-action Spider-Man film.”
“We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him — including all their newly added Marvel properties — do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own. Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.”
Talking further about what Sony has to say about the future of Spider-Man, its CEO Vinciquerra said that it will be better for both sides to shut the future of Spider-Man with MCU as this decision won’t harm anyone. Now Spider-Man will only be seen in Sony’s solo produced films such as Tom Hardy’s Venom.
Apart from Venom, Sony has plans to produce films on The Sinister Six, Black Cat and several other characters which revolved around Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
Though he will be soon seen signing a contract with Sony, Tom Holland made his debut as Spider-Man in MCU with Captain America: Civil War. Continuing the successful future of Spider-Man, Tom was seen in the third and fourth installments of The Avenger. Lastly, he was seen in the movie Far From Home which was a solo production.
As per the present contract, Spider-Man was allowed to work in three solo films and three team projects. Therefore, Holland is left with only one solo movie with Marvel cinematic universe after which the future of Spider-Man will end with MCU characters.
The news is highly “disappointing” and a fluctuating future of Spider-Man can be seen ahead. Whether he will remain everyone’s favorite or not will be decided by his upcoming solo Sony project.
