Key Players of the match
Bangladesh: Mushfiqur Rahim has often played the role of an anchor with the bat. His strike-rate has been a subject of some question, but against South Africa, he showed that he can adapt and play with more fluency. Mushfiqur Rahim fired 78 to share a 142-run 3rd wicket stand with Shakib. However, Mustafizur Rahman plundered 3-67, with Md. Saifuddin taking 2-57 in a victory to expose serious shortcomings in the Proteas’ ranks.
New Zealand: Martin Guptill, the stylish opener who put on a real display in his side’s tournament opener against Sri Lanka. He scored an unbeaten 73 off in just 51 balls. Guptill was one of New Zealand’s key performers in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 when they made it to the final. He has an opportunity to build on that when he faces Bangladesh against whom he averages just under 61.
