Bangladesh Vs South Africa

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 match 05 – Bangladesh beat South Africa and Won the match by 21 runs.

Bangladesh has got the perfect start of their 1st match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 campaign. As their highest ODI score inspired a 21-run win against South Africa at Oval on Sunday.

Bangladesh 330/6 (Shakib Al Hasan 75, Mushfiqur Rahim 78, Andile Phehlukwayo 2/52) beat South Africa 309/8 (Faf du Plessis 62, JP Duminy 45, Mustafizur Rahman 3/67) by 21 runs.

Bangladesh has annihilated South Africa with their performance in the 5th match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Mushfiqur Rahim fired 78 to share a 142-run 3rd wicket stand with Shakib, who leaked just 2 fours in his 10 over’s with the ball. However, Mustafizur Rahman plundered 3-67, with Md. Saifuddin taking 2-57 in a victory to expose serious shortcomings in the Proteas’ ranks.

Bangladesh’s achievements, individual and collective, were both many and noteworthy. Shakib Al Hasan became the 1st Bangladeshi, fastest cricketer, to the double of 250 wickets and 5,000 runs in One-Day-Internationals, getting there quicker than the likes of Jacques Kallis and Shahid Afridi. Bangladesh notched their highest-ever ODI score of 6-330, smashing their previous best against South Africa by 52 runs.

Attempting to become the 1st team to chase more than 330 to win an ICC Cricket World Cup match, South Africa’s bid to rewrite the record books fell short at 309 for 8.

South Africa crawl things back for a time, removing Rahim and Shakib, and for a point of time, it looked as if Bangladesh would end up with a score of 280. But, then Mahmudullah scored 46 from 33 balls which propelled his team to their highest ever ODI score, another Bangladeshi re-writing the script.

On the other hand, Faf du Plessis proteas skipper scored 62 runs from 53 balls. But Bangladesh seamer Mustafizur Rahman picked 3 wickets and Mehidy Hasan and economical spinners Shakib wrapped up a memorable victory.

Also, South Africa who have never won the ICC Cricket World Cup, are left with little or no margin for error in the rest of the 10-team group stage. which sees each country will play 9 matches.

It won’t get any easier for Faf du Plessis’s troubled side in their next match when they face title contenders India on Wednesday.
