Australian fans must be proud today as both Steve Smith (top batsman) and Pat Cummins (top bowler) are from Australia, and are currently playing in the series for The Ashes Series. While Indian Captain Virat Kohli, who could not secure his top position, has secured the second position in the list for leading Batsmen. Indians fans are also not disappointed as the points difference between Kohli and Smith is not huge, but 37 points.

Smith and Cummins in The Ashes Series

Both the top batsman and bowler recently contributed to Australia’s 135 –run victory against England which was the final Test Match of The Ashes Series. It was a five-match series and Australia won it with the contribution of the world’s best bowler and batsman. It was Smith’s score in the Ashes Series where he scored 80+ 23 runs, which made him score 937 rating points. Before this series, however, his score was 857 points, and Virat could have easily replaced him if he could not perform well in The Ashes Series.

It was not that difficult for Cummins however as he has a score of 57 points which is much more than KagisoRabada who remains on the second spot with 29 points. Indian Bowler JaspritBumrah has also secured the third position in the ICC Test bowlers’ rankings.

The Major Changes in ICC Test Ranking List 2019
