Actress KanganaRanaut has been shooting on Chennai for her next film Thalaivi which is a biopic of veteran actor Jayalalithaa.
Kangana has been doing a lot of research on her role. Talking to media about KanganaRanaut‘s latest film, the actress revealed that her role is very demanding as Jayalalithaa was a very glamourous actor similar to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. However, Kangana draws a similarity between her and Jayalalithaa saying that they are both very “reluctant” actresses. Talking about KanganaRanaut’s latest film, she says “She (Jayalalithaa) was not like me. She was a more glamorous star… somebody like an Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Bollywood. It was a very big challenge to fit into those shoes because I’m not known as a glamorous star. There is one common thread, though. She was a very reluctant actor. It is the same with me. I never wanted to be an actor, and that is why we became very unusual actors. I think she always felt that she was worth much more than just being a glam doll [in films], and she became a politician. Like how I became a filmmaker because I felt that being an actress was very limiting for me. So, I think there are parallels“. In addition to this, Kangana also highlighted some aspects of their lives which were quite similar: “I think, like every woman, she longed for a family, and she longed for a child. I think there was a time in my life also when I longed for a family. I think some of the married people took advantage of that… There are scenes [in this film] with an actor who is married, and who promises marriage and then goes back on his word. She has to face a lot of public humiliation. I think this is what happens to a lot of young actresses. It is not something that only we share.“
Recently, her team shared a new look from KanganaRanaut’s latest movie where Kangana can be seen gazing at the mirror. Her hair were adorned with flowers and South Indian jewellery. The picture was captioned as “Wishing Maria Sharma a glorious five decades in the Indian film industry. This legendary hairstylist who worked with screen icons like Hema Malini, Sharmila Tagore, Helen, and Manisha Koirala completed 50 years on the sets of Thalaivi. #KanganaRanaut started her career with Maria Ji with films like ‘WohLamhe’ and ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbai’. Here she’s seen putting final touches on Kangana’s stunning Indian look for #Thalaivi. Stay tuned for more.”
