Legal Action on the Makers of Chhapaak by the Lawyer of Laxmi Agarwal

Once again the movie of Deepika Padukone is in trouble and is in question for both good and bad reasons. The lawyer of Laxmi Agarwal, the real survivor of an acid attack, Advocate Aparna Bhat, is upset with the Deepika Padukone-starrer Chhapaak and has warned to take legal action against the makers of the film.

Chhapaak is a real story based on the life of Laxmi’s Agarwal. In this film, Deepika has plays the lead role of Laxmi Agarwal. Aparna Bhat’s disputation is that the filmmakers have not given due acknowledgment to her in the film’s credits. Aparna Bhat, the advocate has played the main role in real life to make sure the justice which was provided to Laxmi in the case fought at Patiala House Courts. She took the matter to Facebook and wrote a few posts to raise her anger, and also announced that she would be taking the makers of Chhapaak to court.

Aparna Bhat wrote in her Facebook post that she had never been the one to demand attention to her work but deeply disturbed by some of the aspects, on a post watching Chhapaak. She also said that the post watching Compelled her to take legal action in order to protect her uniqueness and preserve her honesty. She was afraid that she had represented Lakshmi in her criminal trial in Patiala House Courts and tomorrow someone might represent her for her cause and ironies of life.

As soon as the post was put up by her, many people came for her support. Pleased by the fact, she wrote another post saying thanks to all his friends who endorsed her contribution and challenged team Chhapaak, which did not even, thought of paying gratitude to her. Though cannot stand up to the equivalent powers of these powerful producers of Bollywood but keeping quiet will further support injustice. So, finally decided to take her cause to the next level and is also ready to face the consequences.

This was the second controversy that has come forward about Chhapaak within the duration of a single day. Earlier on Wednesday (08.01.2020), social media was flooded with the gossip that the name of the real-life acid attacker was changed from Basheer to Rajesh in the film, in order to protect the culprit’s religious identity. However, pre-release screenings on Wednesday revealed the name of Nadeem has been changed to Basheer.

Wednesday’s controversies over Chhapaak continued with Deepika’s visit to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Tuesday night. She was at JNU as a mark of solidarity with the students who were victims of a violent attack by unidentified masked men on Sunday night.

Deepika’s JNU visit was interpreted by many as a publicity stunt and shouted to boycott her new film which has been trending online, although a large section of social media has also flagged down her gesture.
