Kerala boy becomes father at 12
A Kerala boy has reportedly become father to a baby girl at the tender of age of twelve years. The mother of the child is sixteen years old. The incident happened at a small distance to the capital of the State in Thiruvananthapuram. The boy is being speculated as the youngest father happened to be in India. The DNA tests have confirmed that the boy is father to the 18 days old baby. The boy and girl who have given birth to the child were neighbors and the girl is considered to be his first cousin. On examining the case, the girl accused the boy of raping her and making her pregnant and hence a case has been registered against the boy. However, while questioning the boy in the same issue, he charged the girl for being in a relationship with him, therefore a case has also been filed under the section 7 & 8 of the POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act). Since the girl’s family have refused to adopt the baby, it has been handed over to the child welfare committee.
It may come as a surprise for many as to how the boy became father at such a less age, the doctors of Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram have told that the boy might be suffering from a medical condition called ‘Precocious Puberty’ in which the onset of Puberty is early. The cases have been registered in the court of law however, it has given rise to a legal conundrum as both the perpetrators or the victims are minors.
