Actress Deepika Padukone, who made her Bollywood debut with shah rukh khan, has recently become the highest-paid Bollywood Actress. Since her debut, Deepika has always been in demand. With her upcoming projects 83 and Chappak, Deepika stays in a busy schedule. And why not? Talent always remains in demand.
Her skills even shocked Romi Dev whose role Deepika Padukone has been assigned in 83. As Deepika works alongside husband Ranveer Singh in 83, her similarity to Kapil Dev’s wife made the latter feel nostalgic. The film’s producer Vishnu Induri said “When Romi saw Deepika on the set, she remarked that she was looking at a mirror image of herself, from 20 years ago. There is a striking similarity. Kabir and Ranveer had met the Devs at their Delhi home for 10 days before the London schedule, so the director had the opportunity to discuss the inputs with Deepika before they began the shoot.”
Deepika’s looks have not been revealed yet but a source brings a close similarity between her and Romi. Deepika Padukone’s transformation into Romi carried Romi to her past. As the source says “When Deepika was shooting for her portions in London in July, Kapil Dev and wife Romi had casually dropped in once on the sets. While Romi had met the actor several times before, this was the first time she was seeing her sport her on-screen avatar. Romi was surprised by her transformation. In the film, Dippy sports a shorter hairdo, but has not resorted to using prosthetics. The makers plan to reveal her look as part of the run-up to the teaser’s release. During their meetings, Dippy would carefully study her behavior and has brought these traits alive in front of the camera.”
Though the film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Hardy Sandhu, and Chirag Patil, it appears that Deepika is going to steal the limelight all by herself. Even after possessing highly appreciable acting skills, Deepika says that she feels guilty of becoming the highest-paid actress. Though everyone knows that she deserves the honor, Deepika has her own say. She thinks she needs to put her work before money. In an interview, she opened up saying “It’s not in my DNA to talk about where I live and how much money I earn. But I’m also conflicted. Because I understand that today it is necessary to have these conversations,”. Adding further, she said “So how does it feel? Apart of me feels guilty because I think it’s important to put the film before any of this. I’ve become a producer now, so I understand this slightly better – I think it’s time the men thought about not taking so much money upfront and burdening the film. On the other hand, there are people who deliver those numbers at the box office. I’m going to have various conversations about this because I don’t think there’s one solution. It’s tricky.”
She will not only contribute to tracing the World Cup journey of India in 1983 but also been seen in another flick – Chhapaak- where she will be seen in the role of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
