Whatsapp $1 Million Grant Coronavirus, Fight Against Fake News
In the middle of the corona virus pandemic, international messaging platform WhatsApp to avoid Coronavirus misinformation will provide high safety measures. A $1 million grant has been generated to fight COVID-19-to keep a tight control for fake news and misinformation indicated by a press release.

Not only this, the company has also produced a Coronavirus Information Hub in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNICEF) and the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), to support users in accessing the latest official health information and connect with friends and family while they are in social distancing.

The grant $1 million which is generated will be granted to the IFCN, and will support journalism from the CoronaVirusFacts/DatosCoronaVirus association, a project created by the IFCN in January 2020, which included more than 100 fact-checkers in 45 countries.
This grant at timely donation from WhatsApp will help the fact checks published by the CoronaVirusFacts Alliance to reach at a wider scale to the audience and help people to arrange facts from fiction during this storm of informations on the whatsapp, which WHO has remarked it as an ‘infodemic,” said by Baybars Orsek, director of the IFCN.
Control on Whatsapp Coronavirus Misinformation
WhatsApp, which is owned by Face book, is collaborating with other tech companies in efforts to help out during the Coronavirus pandemic. Facebook said it would be offering $100 million in cash grants and ad credits for up to 30,000 small businesses impacted by the virus worldwide. And Google, Facebook and other tech firms are in continuous discussions with the US government over how they can help fight the novel Coronavirus with location data collected from people’s phones.
