Amitabh Bachchan is wrapping up three movies this year i.e., Chehre, Jhund, and GulaboSitabo. However, the release date of two of these movies clashed. While Jhund was announced to hit the screens on 8th May, Chehre and GulaboSitabo were sought to release on April 24. Since then the makers of both the movies have been trying to shift their respective release dates to avoid the clash.
Recently, the makers came up with a mutual decision of shifting the dates of Chehre to 17th July. AnandPandit talked to IANS about the changes. He said that it has been mutually decided by both the teams to shift the dates as fans would be equally excited to see both Big B movies. He said “Yes we have moved Chehre to July 17, upon a special request from the makers of GulaboSitabo. We have always had a fantastic association with ShoojitSircar and Ronnie Lahiri, and seeing as it was mutually beneficial to not only all of us to give a good release window to these exciting movies, but also to Mr. Bachchan’s fans, we decided to now release Chehre on July 17.” Also, GulaboSitabo was wrapped up before Chehre as told by producer Ronnie Lahiri. He said “Our film was ready and we were keen to release it in April. We share a great rapport with AnandPandit and as the Chehre shoot was going on, we humbly requested him if we could release GulaboSitabo in April and he was gracious and kind enough to push the release date of Chehre.”
The news of the shift was confirmed by trade analyst TaranAdarsh whose tweet read: “New release date… #Chehre – starring #AmitabhBachchan and #EmraanHashmi – will now release on 17 July 2020… The change in date is due to a request made by the makers of #GulaboSitabo to avert a clash… #Chehre was earlier released on 24 April 2020… Here’s a new glimpse.”
Revealing the role of Amitabh Bachchan in the film, AnandPurohit said that like his previous movie Badla, Big B will be portraying a lawyer. He told Mumbai Mirror: “It is a mystery-thriller that revolves around a group of friends, some of whom are retired lawyers. They meet at a bungalow in Shimla and play a psychological game. It’s an intriguing story with Bachchansaab as one of the lawyers, while Emraan plays a business tycoon. This is the first time that the two actors are working together. We are constructing a huge set of the bungalow at a Malad studio.”
