The character Red from Angry Birds gets its voice from actor-comedian Kapil Sharma in its Hindi version. Angry Birds 2 is an animated family entertainer, taken from a popular game by the same name, revolves around Red and his friends. The first part of the movie was released in 2016 in India and was a superhit.

Kapil said he could relate himself to Red because Red was funny like him.

“He is the hero but, at times, he gets entangled in tough situations. Knowing my history, you’d agree I am Red. The producers expected me to scale up the humor and I have, but it’s very situational. In fact, there are times when the character’s anger will make people laugh. Although I’ll be voicing the character, they won’t see me in it.”

The film will be releasing in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu on 23rd August. Commenting on the Indian style of dubbing, Kapil Sharma said, “In the West, artists’ first voice for their characters, and then based on that the film is shot using graphics. Over here, we have to talk according to the graphics.”

Financed by John Cohen, the official trailer of the sequel of Angry Birds is out featuring the voice of Kapil Sharma along with, Kiku Sharda, and Archana Puran Singh. Talking about his personal experience of dubbing in Angry Birds, Kiku said, “When you are dubbing for a film in Hindi, things change. But, before I began dubbing, I heard how Hader (comedian-actor Bill Hader who has voiced the character of Leonard in the Hollywood version) had lent his voice and built the character, and tried to match his energy. This character is interesting, and I tried to lend my style to it”

The director Thurop Van Orman, who also produces its first part, has added hilarious dialogues from movies like Uri: The surgical strike like ‘How’s the josh?’ and from TV shows like Super Dancer and The Kapil Sharma Show ( with Kapil Sharma’s punchline ‘Babaji Ka Thullu’). There is even a direct reference to Kapil Sharma at one point in the movie.

The two-minute 44-second trailer gives us a glimpse of the fun that the previous movie of Angry Birds gave and its sequel is expected to give the same effects. The original film is dubbed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, Josh Gad, Dove Maceron Nicki Minaj, Danny McBride, Tiffany Haddish, Maya Rudolph, Awkwafina, Peter Dinklage, and Leslie Jones.
