Deepika Padukone To Skip Project K Event in San Diego! Why?
All the Hollywood events under The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation Of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) are paused as the SAG-AFTRA joins a strike by the Writers Guild of America. Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is also a member of SAG-AFTRA, will not be a part of Project K promotions at San Diego Comic Con as she wants to show her solidarity with the strikers. Deepika Padukone joined the union when she made her Hollywood debut with the English-language film XXX, with Vin Diesel as the lead actress. Except for Deepika, all other actors from the film will likely join the event, including Prabhas, Kamal Hassan, and Amitabh Bachchan.
What is SAG-AFTRA?
The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation Of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) is a labour union that represents approximately 160,000 media professionals and entertainers. On July 14, 2023, SAG-AFTRA went on strike over an ongoing labor dispute with an alliance of motion picture and television producers. This is the first time the actors have initiated a labor dispute strike since 1960, and this is the first time writers and actors have come together.
