With Maidaan movie first look hitting the floors on Monday, the fans were stunned to observe the period drama starring Ajay Devgn. The film will revolve around the golden era of football in India from 1952-62 where Ajay will be seen in the role of an architect to modern Indian football. Playing the character of Syed Abdul Rahim who headed the Indian National team form 1950 until his death in 1963 due to cancer, Ajay Devgn is ready to step into the shoes of the football coach.

Captioning “Maidaan kicks off today!”, Ajay Devgn shared Maidaan movie first look. With a football stadium in its background, the poster featured a handmade football juxtaposed as the globe and a header saying “The Golden Era of Indian Football 1952-62”. This gives Goosebumps!!!!

The recent National Film Award winner for her performance in ‘Mahanti’, Keerthy Suresh will be playing the female lead as Ajay’s wife with and Bengali actor RudranilGhosh and the audience is excited to watch Maidaan movie first look that will feature Keerthy.

Speaking to Times of India, Ghosh threw some light before the release of Maidaan movie first look saying “I can’t divulge too many details but I play Shubhankar, an important member of the Football Federation, in the film. All I can say is that Amit said it is one of the most colorful characters in this film. It’s an honor that I will be sharing many scenes with Ajay Devgn.”

Directed by AmitRavindernath Sharma, the film is teamwork of  BoneyKapoor, AkashChawla, and Arunava Joy Sengupta. Speaking in an interview, Boney Kapoor said “I was amazed that not many are aware of someone as significant as Syed Abdul Rahim. He’s an unsung hero whose achievements must be saluted. His team had heroes like ChunniGoswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco, and Arun Ghosh. It takes someone like Ajay Devgn to play Syed Abdul Rahim. With him on board, I can just hope that our film inspires youngsters to play football, and India soon to bring the World Cup home.”

The shooting of the film will take place in Jakarta, Rome, and Melbourne and the film will be released in 2020.
