Singer Udit Narayan is highly reputed in the Bollywood industry for giving it several beautiful melodies like Falak Tak Chal, Main Nikla O Gaddi Leke, phela nasha and tip tip barsa paani. However, his personal life has not been as melodious.
Udit Narayan controversy came into light when his first wife Ranjana (Bihar) showed up in 2006. Narayan came to Patna for a live performance and was resting in a hotel when his first wife banged his door with media and said “I have come here to seek justice. He kept me in the dark about his second marriage with Deepa, also a playback singer, for years, and now I have come to seek my rightful place. Whenever I threatened to go public about our marriage, he silenced me with a threat of committing suicide. Now I have no fears and I will take legal recourse,”
According to reports, the story had several twists and turns. The first turn in Udit Narayan controversy came when he married a woman named Ranjana in 1984 in Bihar and left her to made a career in the Bollywood. After becoming a successful singer, Narayan tied a knot with Deepa Gahatraj (Nepal) and had a son- Aditya Narayan. Hiding his marital status from Deepa, Udit remained in peace for several years until Ranjana showed up.
Earlier, he denied any such accusations claiming it to be false news to destroy his image. However, after a battle of three months, Udit Narayan controversy took another turn when he announced Ranjana to be his legal first wife and promised to pay her for maintenance. He stated, “I, Udit Narayan, son of Harekrishna Narayan Jha, has accepted Ranjana as his wife and agreed to provide for her maintenance and upkeep.”
Udit Narayan controversy ended when Ranjana happily accepted Deepa and Aditya. A statement to media said “I have no complaint or grievances against the singer’s wife, Deepa Narayan, and their son Aditya… I have got what a wife should have. I have not settled for any monetary allowance from the singer. He has agreed to keep me with him. It was a family matter and our differences have been sorted out. He has agreed to keep me as wife along with Deepa,”
