The fourth day after the new moon in the month of Bhadrapada, which is 2nd September this year, will observe the beginning of celebrations. The eleven-day long festival will end with Anant Chaturdashi on 12th September 2019. The celebration takes place in honor of Lord Shiva’s elephant-headed son Shri Ganesh.
