According to the sources, a law of Death penalty to those convicted of raping a child up to 12 years of age is probably to take root before the Union Cabinet on Saturday.

Following the grim scrim of the recent rape incidents in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao and Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua, the government has brought out a new law against the evildoers, who attempt to rape a minor ,till the age of 12 years. This amendment is to aid and powerfully enhance the safeguarding of the children from the Sexual Offenses act by hailing a firm law.

According to the law, the one condemned to rape a minor till the age of 12 years will be sentenced to a death penalty.

As per the POSCO law today, the maximum punishment for “vexed assault” is life imprisonment and the minimum one being seven years in prison.

The reform in the criminal laws was also witnessed, following the Nirbhaya case in 2012, which brought out the provision of death penalty, if the woman victim, who is raped either dies or is found in a “vegetative state.” post the vile incident. The ordinance later on became the Criminal law Amendment act.

The government was known to enlighten the Supreme Court on Friday about its urgent deliberation to improvise the penal law by the introduction of death penalty to those convicted of sexually assaulting the minor up to the age of 12 years.

The affirmation of the Centre has counterfeited the amendment in accordance with the public’s uproar to accord the convicted with a death penalty, if found guilty for any sexual assaults. This law is even believed to be implemented on the 8-year-old’s sexual assaulters who  gang-raped and later killed the minor at Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir.

An identical grave incident is known to be reported in Surat, where a body of a 9-year old was discovered near a cricket field in Bhestan, comprising of almost 80 injuries on her body, along with few bruises on her private parts. The grieving postmortem revealed that she had been raped for a period of eight days before finally being strangulated and polished off.

“An ordinance today is the best way to deal with the issue. An amendment bill will have to wait (till July) when the Monsoon session commences,” quoted a law ministry official.

The very first comments of the Prime Minister, quoting the spine-tingling incident expressed, that no crime will be spared and the daughters will get justice. He also grieved that such horrendous incidents tend to jolt our senses.

“I want to assure the nation that no criminal will be spared. Justice will be done. Our daughters will get justice,” he had conveyed at an event to inaugurate the B R Ambedkar memorial here.In London, Modi also articulated, “We always ask our daughters about what they are doing, where they are going. We must ask our sons too.”

He finally signs off with a heavy heart saying that the person who is committing these heinous crimes is also someone’s son and rape of a daughter is a matter of sheer shame for the country.
