The government’s initiative to put a ban on the fire crackers was all resulted into a wild goose chase when the city was ablaze with the buzz of the crackers at every nook and corner on Thursday. This gave rise to the noise as well as air pollution, just like the previous years!!
The city which was recorded to be noise-free and pollution-free until 6 pm, turned into smoke-colored dwelling as the evening proceeded, with the burning of long-ladis till the wee hours of Friday morning i.e. today.
The pollution turned out to be intimidating as the Delhi Pollution Control Committee’s RK Puram made a check on the pollution, which rose alarming PM2.5 and PM10 at 878 and 1,179 micrograms per cubic meter, respectively, at around 11 pm on Thursday.
There was hence, a gleeful violation to the 24hr-pollution-free Delhi by the DELHIITES!
According to the SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research), the pollution levels took a bump between 11 pm and 3 am Thursday till the wee hours of Friday morning when Delhiites went on a cracker-bursting overdrive.
There has been a very poor quality of ‘Air Quality Index’ to be noted, which means people with the respiratory problems are going to face the consequences. If the Air quality index plunges further, it might lead to many other unavoidable diseases!
