Mumbai Rain News: Rainfall resumed on Sunday night after a brief halt in Mumbai. As a result of the pouring rain, office goers had to face many difficulties. The financial and entertainment capital of India was flooded because of the rains. This isn’t anything new and people of Mumbai are used to this kind of monsoon. The weather department has forecasted that rainfall will continue in parts of Mumbai. However, local trains are running amid the heavy rainfall but the Kalyan to Kasara and Karjat route has been shut down. Railway administration is doing everything in its power to normalize the situation in the city. 6 more national Disaster Relief Force teams have been called in Mumbai for emergency evacuation of people.
1. Exam schedule for open learning students has been postponed and schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar will remain closed until further notice.
2. The Government has advised people to not go out until absolutely necessary. Also, Mumbai Government officials are allowed to reach work late.
3. Government agencies providing relief facilities will stay open.
4. BMC provided refreshments to passengers at LokmanyaTilak Terminus after 12 trains were canceled and 6 were stranded away from the destination as the tracks were submerged in water.
5. There was no disruption in air traffic. It is expected to stay the same way.
6. Mumbai will receive heavy to heavy rains and suburbs will see extremely heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours reported the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
7. A live wire came in contact with water due to which a son and his 52-year old mother were electrocuted. A boy died and his sister was injured in Lonavala district because the wall collapsed.
8. The water level near Mithi River rose to a dangerous level after which the residents were shifted to higher grounds.
9. Airlift operation was conducted by the Indian air force to save 56 people from flood-affected areas.
10. Approximately 150 students of MIT college in Pune were taken to safety by the fire department after the water level in the college rose to dangerous levels.
