Since the CAB got passed in the parliament on December 12, 2020, and became an act as CAA, some of the opposition parties and the Muslim community are protesting against the act. Though the government and the CAA favouring people are trying their best to sort out their doubts but the opposition has brain drained so badly that they have lost their self-understanding and left no space to understand the facts and blindly following the ill-fed leaders and over intelligent celebrities, especially Congress, TMC and AAP parties.

On Sunday (19.01.2020) Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman while speaking in an event in Chennai shielded the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) by citing an example of Pakistan-born singer Adnan Sami, who was granted Indian citizenship in 2016.

The BJP leader also mentioned the name of Bengali writer Taslima Nasreen as another example of Muslims from the neighbouring country too got citizenship in India. Nasreen is official, a citizen of Sweden has been living in New Delhi on a residence permit since 2004.

Sitharaman said at an event on CAA in Chennai that till now, a total of 391 Afghanistani Muslims and 1,595 Pakistani migrants were given citizenship from 2016 to 2018. During the period of 2016, Adnan Sami got a citizenship and Taslima Nasreen is another example who got Indian Citizenship. These examples itself acts as an evidence to prove that all allegations against us are entirely wrong and now people have to open up their minds.

Nasreen was forced to leave Bangladesh in 1994 by giving death threat by fundamentalist outfits for her suspected anti-Islamic views. Since then she has been living in deport.

Sami, who had belonged to Pakistan, was given citizenship under Section 6 (I) of the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955 under the category “citizenship by naturalisation” after he approached the Home Ministry with the request to legalise his stay in India on humanitarian grounds.

Sitharaman said, as many as 2,838 Pakistanis, 914 Afghans and 172 Bangladeshis given Indian citizenship in the last six years, which included Muslims as well. Over four lakh Sri Lankan Tamils were given citizenship and 566 Muslims from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan were given citizenship till 2014, from 1964 to 2008

She had repeated the words of some states for not implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act and called it as ‘unconstitutional’ but it is the responsibility of all states to ensure that the law passed in Parliament has to be implemented.

The Finance Minister added that people who came from East Pakistan have been settled at various camps in the country. They have reacted to the CAA and said it is a “very good” and “generous”, attitude of the government. Nasreen recently said that the law should be an exception for Muslim “free-thinkers, feminists, and secularists” from the neighbouring countries.

Sitharaman, further said this initiation would give justice to the religious mistreated minorities from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan after getting Indian citizenship. It is a very good idea and very generous to these suffered people.

She too was thankful to the Indian government by saying that there are people like her from the Muslim community, free thinkers and atheists, who too are victimized in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan and should have the right to live in India.
