Yes, it is the same Roland Garros where Novak Djokovic had progressed the semi-finals and won the finals to become the defending champion of last year’s French Open 2016. But this years French Open 2017 tables turned as surprisingly Novak Djokovic is out of the semi-finals. Although many questions were raised regarding the last set specifically which he played but a major exclamation was put forward by John McEnroe “I don’t recall seeing a time in the last six to eight years when Novak mailed it in.” and also termed his final sets played to be “inexplicable”.
Has Novak Djokovic lost his desire to win? Does he have some other reasons why his performance suffered during his match? all of these were the questions asked after his defeat to Dominic Thiem. Dominic Thiem triumphed back with a score line pasting, 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 6-0. Djokovic’s measures of error were much this time considering Quarter Finals.
“It looked in the third set like he just didn’t want to be out there, couldn’t compete any more, and that’s shocking for a guy that’s won as much as he has and prides himself on competition,” was the statement made by the 58 year old McEnroe. Djokovic however added, “”For me, it’s a whole new situation that I’m facing,” “Especially in the last seven, eight months, not winning any tournament, which hasn’t happened in many years. “I guess you’ve got to go through it, try to learn your lessons and figure out how to get out of it stronger. “It’s a big challenge, but I’m up for it.”
Thus even with his recent dip in his form since he last lost to Sam Querrey at Wimbledon in 2016. After his recent elimination it will be Wimbledon which will be his next stop although he seems to sense his way out he might take a break from the game and hope to perform better like he did before. Since Novak Djokovic out Dominic Thiem has entered the semi finals with Raphael Nadal progressing ahead. It will be a clear chance for Nadal to defeat well performing Thiem to end up in the finals of French Open 2017 that is going to be held on Friday, 9th June.

Not much was unknown in the match between Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori where Andy Murray won by a score line of 2-6 6-1 7-6 (7-0) 6-1. It was Murray’s 4th consecutive French Open semi – finals. In the same way, the 30 year old Stan Wawrinka too resumed hi run by defeating Marin Cilic by 6-3 6-3 6-1.
Things had heated up a bit when Andy Murray was penalized by the umpire for losing a serve for time violation. This warning somehow lead to change in the pace of the game which further favored Andy Murray in taking down Kei Nishikori. On the other it was a smooth win for Stan Wawrinka who breezed past his opponent Cilic. He said he was very much satisfied with the results of today’s game. Now it will be very much interesting to see how the semi- final between the two prospers ahead on Friday.
