ICC Champions Trophy 2017, India vs. Bangladesh – Route to Final

Before the start of the tournament no one would have imagined this semi final clash. One team was expected to reach this stage of the tournament. India has reached this stage with a minor hiccup in their match against Sri Lanka. But to see Bangladesh reach this stage in a group where teams Australia and New Zealand where there is a miracle in itself. They did beat New Zealand to reach the semi finals so is India took them lightly it would be a huge mistake. To their fans, to reach this stage of ICC Champions trophy 2017 is an award in itself and if they beat India today, there would be a party on the streets of Bangladesh. When Bangladesh beat Pakistan in England, the party atmosphere in England was lit up. The lanes of England were filled with curry houses which have been a huge rage in England particularly for the people who like spicy food. Expect the same this time if Bangladesh pulled another upset in ICC Champions trophy 2017.

Indian fans remember the world cup of 2007. They were knocked out early in the tournament, thanks to a defeat against the tigers. Bangladesh was also at the wrong end in 2015 world cup and the 2016 world T20. So both teams have faced defeats against each other in major ICC tournaments. The outsiders see this as David vs. goliath and the Bangladesh has not problem being called the small team. In the last two defeats against India, there were accusations even from the board in the manner in which they were defeated. Their captain Mashrafe Mortaza said that the pressure will be on India today. It’s an attitude that has worked wonders in their favor over the years. Slowly the team is becoming stronger and their captain credits this to their hard work and coaching methods. This might be one of their biggest match and they have to give their absolute best to snatch the victory.

India had an up and down journey so far in ICC Champions trophy 2017. They started well against Pakistan, trashing them in the process but it was their second match that saw some cracks in the bowling department. Bangladesh can build on the match against Sri Lanka. It’s the ‘nothing to lose’ attitude that comes to the pitch. The same thing happened against Sri Lanka and it just might happen today. Whatever the outcome may be today’s match is not to be missed.
