Defending champions of the ICC Champions Trophy , India will be aiming to shut out their rivals when they lock horns with Pakistan in their ICC Champions Trophy 2017 opener later today. It will be a thrilling contest between the two teams where tension and drama is always high. One of the best seam bowlers of the modern time, Mohammed Amir would battle against one of the best batsman of the modern era Virat Kohli in what could turn out to be a battle between India’s feared batting line-up and against Pakistan‘s great bowling attack. A line-up that has the talents like Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni can be intimidating for any bowling attack in cricket. But facing the likes of Mohammed Amir and an equally talented bowler in Junaid Khan in the English conditions, will be testing for the Indian batsmen.

In any case, Pakistan remains very inconsistent, on their day they are unstoppable but they also play rubbish on certain days. For India, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya being the balancing factor will be one of their key strength. Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are certain to play along with Umesh Yadav who is in good from after bowling successful spells in the Test season. Also there is Mohammed Shami who has a variety of tricks up his sleeve that will trouble the best batsmen in the world. Pakistan’s top-order is filled with right-handed batsmen. In this case Ravichandran Ashwin will feel difficult breaking it into the line up in place of the all rounder Ravindra Jadeja. A match between India and Pakistan is a bit different from other cricketing matches purely due to its socio-political significance. The current tension between the two neighbouring nations also adds to this historical rivalry between the two teams. India has always had the upper hand against their neighbours in global cricket competitions.

For global people it’s just “another match” in their list but for the die-hard fans of cricket of both the nations, are hoping a brilliant performance from their cricketing hero’s not just a win.  Virat Kohli as a batsman sure knows how to win matches against their bitter rivals but now Virat Kohli is the captain and his maturity will come into test today. While in ICC Champions Trophy Pakistan enjoy a 2-1 head-to-head record against India, this year Kohli’s men in blue  are superior in every department. All in all today is another mouth watering clash against the bitter rivals
