ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 match 07–Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan and Won the match by 34 runs.

Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bowl against Sri Lanka in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 encounter.

However, Sri Lanka annihilated Afghanistan with their performance in the 7th match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka, who batted first, was bowled out for 201 by Afghanistan after rain forced the play to be curtailed to 41 overs per side. Afghanistan then got a DLS revised target of 187 runs from 41 overs due to the rain interruption in between the match.

Kusal Perera top-scored for Sri Lanka making 78 while Mohammad Nabi emerged as the star bowler for Afghanistan finishing with 4/30 in 9 overs.

Sri Lanka successfully managed to defend the DLS revised target of 187 that was given to Afghanistan, as they bowled out the entire team for in just 32.4 overs and won the match by 34 runs.

In the run chase, Afghanistan was all out for just 152 runs in 32.4 overs. Najibullah Zadran scored top for his side with 43 runs and Lasith Malinga 3-38 for Sri Lanka. With the ball, Afghanistan was on the top straight away with Mujeeb taking a wicket in the first over and Mohammad Nabi from Afghanistan was the wrecker-in-chief, for his team taking four wickets.

While Nuwan Pradeep’s spell with the new ball was what turned the match in Sri Lanka’s favour.  Nuwan Pradeep 4-31 was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka, also recording his career-best ODI figures.

Sri Lanka has bounced back from a heavy defeat to New Zealand. They snatched a thrilling 34-run victory against Afghanistan and became the 7th team to gain 2 points in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 competition.
