The ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit was working with the organizers to monitor the league since its beginning.

The International Cricket Council is investigating the Qatar T10 league after the interruption of “a number of known corruptors” in the event, which it sanctioned a year ago and credited some prominent retired players such as South Africa’s Hashim Amla.

ICC’s Integrity Unit General Manager Alex Marshall said in a statement on Tuesday night that the ICC has sanctioned this event 12 months ago based on the sound information received by its organizers.

However, substantial changes to both team ownership and the organizers were required and prior to just a few days left to the event getting underway range anxiety bells for us and we had applied additional investigative resources on the ground to address the related concerns.

As a result, ICC have intercepted a number of known corruptors both in Qatar and globally and dislocated the planned corrupt activity at the event. Later this gave rise to a number of new investigations for the ICC, As an ACU team, their efforts will be continued in order to ensure cricket is a corruption-free sport.

Nine tournaments had already been organized by the inaugural edition of the Qatar League, 10th tournament will be organized by the Qatar Cricket Association from December 7 to 16 this year 2019.

The T10 league comprises six teams containing 24 international cricketers, 12 players from associate ICC countries, Qatar national cricket team players and other local players. Falcon Hunters won the tournament by beating Swift Gallopers by four wickets.

Fast bowler Manpreet Gony, who had played just two ODIs, will be the only Indian to feature in the tournament. Other prominent players to compete in the league apart from Amla were Pakistan discards Kamran Akmal, Mohammed Hafeez, and Sohail Tanveer.
