Millions are shelled out by the respective owners of the teams to build The Indian Premier League(IPL) team. A big amount was again coughed out on certain players with a hope that they would be the game changers of this season. While some have been successful in propelling their team to the top, the others have failed miserably in accordance with the pay they have received.

Here is a list of the top 5 flop players of IPL 2018:

Ben Stokes (Rajasthan Royals – Pay: Rs 12.5 crore)

Ben-Stokes-Rajasthan-Royals-IPL-2018

This English skilled and a versatile all-rounder had topped the list in terms of pay. Being one of the most unbeatable players of the previous season for Rising Pune Supergiant with a whopping score of 316 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 142.98, inclusive of an undefeated century along with his victorious stint in bowling by taking 12 wickets at an astounding economy rate of 7.18. The same player had failed to hike up the notch in this season.

He has been one of the most important players of Rajasthan Royals in this season of IPL 2018, but only managed to score a petty total of over 147 runs at an average of 21 and a strike rate of 123.52.He has claimed a high score of only about 45 runs with a total count of just nine fours and five sixes in the entire tournament till date. His bowling had aped even a worse fate with just one wicket under his name and a strike rate of 102, withholding a poor economy rate of 9.88.

Jaydev Unadkat (Rajasthan Royals – Pay: Rs 11.5 crore)

Jaydev Unadkat, the left-armed mediocre pacer has been the second in the list to have disappointed its owners and the team, who had also performed outstandingly well in his former team of Rising Pune Supergiant, where he kicked off  24 wickets with a best of 5/30 and an astounding economy rate of 7.02.He has also constantly performed really well with India in the Nidahas Trophy which was held in Sri Lanka in the month of  March this year following the auctions of IPL 2018.He had also claimed to be the third-highest wicket taker in the following tournament, thus, beholding over seven fleece under his name in the four matches.

However, he has failed to portray the same intensity of being on the top in the present season of the IPL 2018 where he could scrape only a trifle four wickets with a  high economy rate of 10.18.

His forte of slow delivery has, however, failed to hail him a wicket this season and hence, he needs to think of some new possibility to claim the same!

Manish Pandey (Sunrisers Hyderabad – Pay: Rs 11 crore)

Manish-Pandey-ipl-2018

The adept right-hander has been SRH’s highest investment in the auctions this season with a lot of hope plunged onto him for a mind-blowing flux that he could provide to the game. Dolefully, this ace has only managed to discount for a frivolous whack of 57 not out and thus, has ended up disappointing his fans. Following David Warner’s disbarment after his ball-tampering humiliation, Pandey was placed upon a lot of belief to take off the rein of the game towards the conquering side but seems like he hasn’t even yet felt the breeze!

He has been placed at the position of being one of the most prominent players of the team but has only managed to hole a total score of 158 runs at an average of 26.33 and a flat strike rate of 112.85. His 157 runs comprise smashes of 54 and 57 not out, indicating his petty achievement of just 46 runs in the other six matches.

Glenn Maxwell (Delhi Daredevils – Pay: Rs 9 crore)

This Australian phenomenal hitter came to light post his successful share of his outstanding play in Big Bash League 7.He was a part of the nine matches for Melbourne Stars, striking an appreciable score of 299 runs at an average of 37.38 and a strike rate of 154.12. DD has splurged their valuable investment on this Australian player but has yet failed to receive any fruitful applauding for the same. Maxwell has primed a measly score rate of just 126 runs in seven matches at an average of 18 and a strike rate of 159.49. Besides, he has also only managed to knock off just four wickets with an economy rate of 7.22.

He has been liable for the equal contribution for the reason of DD’s towering failures, which have made them step down to the bottom of the list and has also resulted in Gautam Gambhir’s bowing out from the captaincy.

Although some of the other players have faired really well and it’s the high ranked players who have been failing tremendously, resulting into a traumatic nightmare for the DD owners.

Ravindra Jadeja (Chennai Super Kings – Pay: Rs 7 crore)

This most adored all-rounder has lost his position from the India limited-overs squadron. The CSK had however retained him back by shelling out a huge amount which bore a fruitful outcome till the initial IPL matches but then as the time passed, this player seemed to be unexpectedly fading in his sound play.

He has been a part of all the eight matches of IPL and has only scraped to pick up a scratch of just 47 runs despite, of being numbered before the aces like MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo. His strike rate has just been of a meager 120.51 and has only whacked off just two wickets at an economy rate of 8.21.
