Elon Musk says Mark Zuckerberg's knowledge about Artificial Intelligence is Limited

Artificial Intelligence: ‘Limited’ Knowledge, Unlimited Spat

Business tycoon and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg’s understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is “limited”. The statement came after Zuckerberg on Sunday, during a Facebook Live session expressed his disagreement with Elon Musk’s view about AI. This has led to quite a huge internet spat between the two.

Zuckerberg said, “I think people who are naysayers and try to drum up these doomsday scenarios ” I just, I don’t understand it. It’s really negative and in some ways, I actually think it is pretty irresponsible,”

The statement came after a client posted a question on a recent interview with Musk in which Musk was seen expressing his dread over Artificial Intelligence being his largest fear for the future.

Musk has always been quite vocal about his dread of AI. According to Elon, AI might cause massive job disruption in the country and the world largely, as the robots “will be able to do everything better than us”. His fear of AI is so evident, that he has offered to advocate a policy of universal basic income, to offer protection to people from the “fallout of AI”.

Zuckerberg’s opinion, however, doesn’t concur with Musk’s view. “In the next five to 10 years, AI is going to deliver so many improvements in the quality of our lives,” he said.

All of this started after a Twitter user posted an article about Zuckerberg’s remarks. Musk reacted to the tweet and said that he has talked to Zuckerberg about this and that his knowledge about the subject is “limited.” Musk also replied to a twitter user saying that a movie concerning the subject of AI will be made soon.

Although Zuckerberg agrees on Musk’s idea of a universal basic income to avoid any huge fallout resulting from new technology, both the CEOs have a major disagreement on the impact that AI has created in the world. Musk has also expressed his fear of humans becoming irrelevant and the association of humans with machines, which might again be a problem.

The public spat between the two technology tycoons shows the kind of debates that are happening on the future of Artificial Intelligence in the world of technology.
