GALAXY WATCH ACTIVE 2

Galaxy Watch Active has launched just 6 months ago and now Samsung is back with the second version of the smartwatch. The first version was launched along with the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Watch Active 2 was launched 2 days before the Note 10 event. Samsung follows a 6-month cycle with its flagship mobile phones and has shown a similar trend with this watch series. Galaxy Watch Active 2 costs $80 more than the previous version. The form factor of the smartwatch hasn’t changed much but Samsung has crammed in some amazing features in the second version of the watch like a new ECG sensor, better accelerometer, better HR sensing, LTE option, and a haptic-response touch bezel.

Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be available for sale from 13th September. The watch is seen as the competitor of the next-gen Apple watch. It will be available in 2 sizes; 40mm ($280) and 44mm ($300). However, both these models are more compact than the Galaxy Watch launched in 2018. It will be available in 4 colors; black, gold, silver, and lily gold. You can make a choice between aluminum and steel frame and rubber and leather straps. The size difference between the two models is negligible. Galaxy Watch Active 2 looks to be compact, sturdy, ergonomic, and minimal yet attractive.

Samsung Gear Sport features a rotating bezel to interact with the watch screen. Galaxy Watch Active 2 uses a touch-sensitive edge to replicate the same. This functionality is better for activities like scrolling. Touch feedback has also been improved. The Active 2 is capable of taking an ECG, however, the accuracy of it is not certified by any medical association. Apple Watch 4 makes use of similar technology and looks for possible arrhythmia by monitoring heart rate and heart rhythm. The feature is not active yet but will be activated as soon as FDA approves the legitimacy of it.

The accelerometer can measure up to 32Gs. The number of LEDs for heart rate monitoring has also been increased to 8 from 4 in the previous version of the watch. The LTE model of Galaxy Watch Active 2 supports voice calling, streaming music from Spotify, and watching videos on YouTube without any involvement of the phone. Galaxy Watch Active 2 will run on the Tizen operating system.
