Tesla is the name when it comes to electric cars. Currently, Tesla’s product line has 3 cars; Model 3, Model X, and Model S. All these cars are loaded with top-notch features and can compete with the BMWs and Audis of the world. Tesla owner Elon Musk recently launched a new company named “The Boring Company” inside an 8-mile long tunnel in New York. The company produces some bizarre products like flamethrowers and stuff along these lines.

Tesla is known to do crazy things. Recently, Tesla launched a car into space. On Monday, Tesla announced a huge battery. It is probably the largest battery you will ever see. The batter is called Megapack. Megapack will serve a niche market. It is designed mainly to simplify the process of installation of large energy-storage projects.

3megawatt-hours of energy are stored inside of a single Megapack. It is also capable of converting 1.5 megawatts of energy from a direct current (DC) source to alternating current (AC). This functionality of the Megapack makes is apt for powering average-sized homes.

Previous Tesla batteries have facilitated completion large of large scale projects. The Megapack is about 60 times more powerful than the previous ones. It is a cost-effective option compared to a fossil fuel power plant. Energy generated by solar panels and wind turbines can also be stored in the Megapack.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company in California is planning to use Megapacks when the energy demand exceeds the energy supply from the local grids. Such energy contraptions are sustainable and will play a major role in increasing awareness about sustainable energy resources.

In 2017, the predecessor of Megapack, the Powerpack was installed in Australia to support the local grids. The cost of energy production in the local energy grid reduced by approximately US$40 million during that year.

Megapack is the flagship product of Tesla’s energy business. Tesla also manufactures solar panels and their goal here is to somehow combine their solar panels and the Megapack into a single product. The last couple of years have seen a dip in the number of solar panel installations but there has been a steady growth in contraptions like the Megapack.
