Xiaomi phones are selling like hot cakes in the Indian market. No wonder why it is the number one smartphone brand in India. Xiaomi’s aim is to provide everything that you might ever need at an affordable price point.

Xiaomi started the bezel-less display revolution with its Mi Mix, and then it launched the gaming-centric mobile phone by the name Black Shark. The phone was appraised by the tech community but for some reason, Xiaomi wasn’t able to sell the device in large numbers.

Back then, gaming phones were not a thing but today the scenario has changed completely. Xiaomi has partnered with MediaTek to work on a gaming phone. MediaTek announced their new chipsets; the Helio G90 and Helio G90T. Xiaomi revealed that the gaming phone will utilize the latest MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. The announcement was made on Twitter by Xiaomi.

It is not confirmed as to when the device will come out. The Twitter post said, “Enter the World of Incredible Gaming”. Manu Kumar Jain is the global Vice President of Xiaomi and MD for Xiaomi India. He shared a photo with MediaTek General Manager TL Lee with the caption – “We’ll launch a phone with the incredible, high-performance G90T. Get ready for ultimate gaming!

Manu Kumar Jain also posted a picture with players in PUBG avatars. PUBG is the hottest game on mobile devices right now and it totally makes sense to advertise a phone as a good device to play PUBG on. The decision to make a gaming phone was made by taking into consideration the following data; 2.2 crore gamers in India spend approximately 50 minutes playing games on the smartphones and the gaming industry has raked in around $2 billion in the last couple of years.

Helio G90T is has an 8 core CPU clocked at 2.05GHz. Power cores in the CPU make use of ARM Cortex-A76 whereas efficiency cores make use of Cortex-A55. For high graphic performance, Mali G76 GPU clocked at 800MHz is also added. This chipset is capable of supporting 10GB LPDDR4 RAM. Like the OnePlus 7 Pro, this device’s display will also have a 90Hz refresh rate and 21:9 aspect ratio.

HyperEngine game technology is loaded into the chipset for optimal gaming performance. The device will support Dual Wi-Fi connection which basically means that it will be able to connect to 2 different routers at the same time.
