Unlike earlier time when boys were given preferential treatment compared to girls but things have fast changed and girls are now treated at par with boys. The growing popularity of interactive video games has flagged concern among parents, policymakers and educators about how the games affect children. In this century youths are heavily surrounded by gaming experiences and relish out of the world luxuries. A recent study has found that girls are more likely to get affected by video games as compared to boys. It found that playing the games affected youth based on gender and age.

Based on the findings is was revealed that girls who spent more time playing video games at age of ten developed weaker social skills later than girls who spent less time playing games. Girls who are more active on playing video game would keep them self isolated and are unable to develop social skills compared to non gaming girl. Moreover, being recluse is further linked to being stubborn and unwilling to adhere to parents. In comparison to boys since girl are treated with more care and kindness they tend to use it other way round.

Boys can be chided and meted out harsh punishment to mend their ways. The same is not the case with girls as parents are likely to give them piece of advice and hope her to adhere them. Being glued to video games girls have high tendency to put of weight and to exacerbate binge eating while being in front of gaming console.

Violent games make children aggressive and they are likely to do unlawful acts. Such games affect girls more than boys.
