The fans of Padman will have to wait till February as Akshay Kumar’s movie is not going to clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat his Republic Day weekend. The R Balki’s directorial, starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte, will release on February 9, 2018.

The rumours of ‘PadMan’ makers postponing their release were put an end after official announcement by the actor Akshay Kumar. Now, Padman will be a solo release on January 25.

“It is essential for them to release the film ‘Padmaavat’ as quickly as possible, so I agreed to move the release date of my film ‘PadMan’ ahead. It will now be released on February 9,” Akshay confirmed the news during a press conference in Mumbai on Friday evening.

“He has gone through a lot. It is essential for them to release the film at this time, their stakes are higher than mine,” Akshay said about the Padmaavat director, calling him “a dear friend.”

” I will be grateful for a lifetime. This is how we stand with each other,” Sanjay Leela Bhansali said.

Earlier Akshay was quoted saying, “It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come, both the films can release on that day. Every film has the right to release whenever they want, and I am happy for them.”

According to reports, director Bhansali, who faced more than his share of trials over the past months leading up to the film’s release, met and requested Akshay to push back the release of his film.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘PadMan’ will now clash with Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Aiyaary’ when it hits theatres on February 9. ‘Padmaavat’ on the other hand is scheduled to release on 25 January, with paid previews organised for 24 January.
