After five years into marriage, Sahil Sangha and his actor-producer wife Dia Mirza announced their separation on Thursday. The couple tied a knot on October 18, 2014, in a lavish ceremony in Delhi, after dating each other for six years. Their lavish wedding was attended by Rajkumar Hirani, Mahesh Bhupati, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Cyrus Sahukar, and Sophie Choudry. Dia Mirza posted on her social media:

“After 11 years of sharing our lives and being together, we have mutually decided to separate.

We remain friends and continue to be there for each other with love and respect. While our journey may lead us down different paths, we are forever grateful for the bond that we share with each other.

We thank our family and our friends for all their love and understanding and members of the media for their continued support and request everyone to respect our need for privacy at this time.

We will not be commenting on this matter any further.

Thank you”

Sahil also shared the same on his twitter handle.

Two weeks earlier, 16th July, Dia Mirza posted pictures with Sahil on his birthday writing “happy birthday precious one” and five months earlier the couple went for a Japanese trip. Sahil’s posts with wife indicated that the couple is in immense love with each other and thus the news of their separation is shocking for fans.

Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha together run a production company named Born Free Entertainment whose first film was Love Breakups Zindagi. Other than her movies, Dia Mirza also involved herself in social works such as being a part of Narmada Bachao Andolan, prevention of Female Feticide, Cancer patients aid association, HIV awareness, and PETA. She was also awarded the 2012 IIFA Green Award for her contribution towards the environment. She has made her first appearance on screen through film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein and later made her debut with projects such as Dum, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, Deewanapan, Tumsa Nahin Dekha- A Love Story, Dus, Parineeta, Lage Raho Munnabhai. She also appeared in 2018 in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic Sanju playing his wife’s role. The film ranks among the highest-grossing films in India. Currently, the actress is starring opposite to Mohit Raina in a web series named Kaafir on ZEE5.
