The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi revealed on Monday after the actor Shah Rukh Khan has released a rap video that urges the fans to exercise their democratic right in the Lok Sabha Elections in response to his appeal to the celebrities to increasing the awareness about the voting. In the video which is of length 1.06 minutes: “Karo Matdan: It’s Time to Vote”, the Shah Rukh Khan has been heard and seen while telling the people their vote is the lifeblood of democracy.

The video comes almost after a month when the Narendra Modi tagged some of the influential people on Twitter. “Fantastic effort, @iamsrk! I am sure the people of India, especially first-time voters will pay heed to your appeal and come out to vote in large numbers,” the prime minister said.

At the time of sharing the video on the social media platform Twitter, the actor also explained that he wanted to do something more creative, hence the delay. “PM sahib @narendramodi ne creativity ki liye bola tha (had asked for creativity). Main thoda late ho gaya video banane mein…aap mat hona Vote karne mein!!! (I was late in making the video, you don’t be late in casting your vote). Voting is not only our Right, it is our Power.’ Please Use It,” Shah Rukh wrote on Twitter alongside the rap video.

“… Aapka matdan loktantra ki jaan,” he says in the video. “Lagi ungli pe syaahi/ dekho badla nazaara/ ye desh hai hamara/ ye farz hai hamara,” he raps, flaunting his inked finger in the video. “Ab na karni complaint, na koi bhi bahana/Bas badhna hai aage aur desh ko badhana,” he intones in the rap video. The form of ‘music with a message’, in vogue after the success of ‘Gully Boy’, particularly targets the youth.

With the help of this ‘masterstroke’, Shah Rukh Khan has also once again proved why makes him so different from the rest of the celebrities. Despite being the recent spate of the box office failures that his career is seeing, Shah Rukh Khan is still considered to be one of the biggest superstars of the industry.

In the month of March this year, Modi had tweeted on the Twitter to some of the actors such as the Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Amitabh Bachan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and some others to help encourage youngsters to cast their votes.
