Diabetes is a persistent therapeutic condition. It is not a disease but people with their lifestyle habits make it a disease. At the initial level, it can be controlled very easily and thereafter can lead a normal life. But once it reaches to advance stage than taking external insulin injection is only the remedy. But still, this problem can be overcome by making certain changes in life and also practicing a natural way of living.

Normally, the blood glucose level in the blood of our body is controlled by insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas. Once the food enters into our body the glucose level elevates and simultaneously insulin from the pancreas is released to control the glucose level and lowers the blood glucose level. If there is insufficient production of insulin or excess secretion of insulin then one comes into the boundary of diabetes. Excess production leads to Type-I diabetes and insufficient production of insulin leads to Type-2 diabetes. The absence or insufficient production of insulin causes hyperglycemia.

But the majority of people suffer from type-2 diabetes. India has the challenge to face. The fact is that India today has more people with type-2 diabetes (more than 50 million) than any other nation and India has the highest number of diabetic patients in the world, according to the “International Journal of Diabetes in Developing Countries”. India has been observing an alarming rise in the occurrence of diabetes. A fact sheet on diabetes was also produced by the World Health Organization (WHO) that approximately 3.4 million deaths are caused due to high blood sugar (Diabetes) in India.

Further, it was revealed by WHO that 80 percent of diabetes deaths occur in low and middle-income countries and stated that such deaths will double in between 2016 to 2030. It would increase from 285 million which was recorded in 2010 to 438 million by 2030. And in India, this increase would be 58%, from 51 million people in 2010 to 87 million in 2030.

Very recent studies by researchers from Stanford University in the US declared that not even 87 million rather the increase would be to 98 million people suffering from type 2 diabetes by 2030. The study also published in the ‘Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology’ journal, that the amount of insulin needed will also increase effectively by more than 20 percent worldwide over the next 12 years.

Without working on the strategies for more insulin production the things will be worse as around half of the 79 million adults who need it in 2030, for type 2 diabetes will not even have access to insulin.

Researchers said that majorly affected people from the countries will be China (130 million), India (98 million), and the US (32 million), researchers said.

These findings in particular highlights that, the continents African, Asian, and Oceania regions will have the largest requirement of insulin need by 2030, which will be in scarcity.

Simultaneously, global data on insulin use revealed that the requirement of Insulin will rise from 526 million 1000-unit vials in 2018 to 634 million in 2030. Wherein, the highest requirement is in Asia (322 million vials in 2030) and lowest in Oceania (4 million).

Medical health experts declared that regular check-ups and timely detection will play a vital role in controlling and managing the problem. But the irony is that the people never want to believe that they can have diabetes too’, so never tends to go for health check-ups which very often leads to complications.

Doctors say that if patients maintain regularity to medication and lifestyle modifications then diabetes can be managed and this can help them lead a normal life. Not only this, if people also do not get monitored of diabetes also results in an increased risk of vascular complications like cardiovascular, renal, neural and visual disorders which are related to the duration of the disease.

Preventive measures of Type 2 Diabetes

Natural living lifestyle can help prevent many cases of type 2 diabetes.

Control the weight

Being overweight increases the chances of developing type 2 diabetes seven-folds. By losing weight one can help oneself to be away from this problem.

Avoid sitting for a long time

Inactivity encourages type 2 diabetes. You should always keep moving and keep your muscles working more often and making them work harder. This will improve the ability to use insulin and absorb glucose. In this, less stress will be put on insulin-making cells. According to a study, walking briskly for a half-hour every daily will reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 30 percent.

Natural diet

Switch over to uncooked food; consume whole grains and whole-grain products. Skip the sugary drinks, and choose water instead of coffee or tea.

Avoid non-vegetarian food and choose nuts and whole grains.

Quit smoking

Smokers will have high efficiency towards diabetes, 50 percent more likely to develop diabetes than nonsmokers, and heavy smokers have an even higher risk.
