Centre Has Given Approval for 8 Medical Colleges in J&K and Ladakh

The centre is trying to make all-round development in J&K and Ladakh for this the Government is fully committed to it. G Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs in a written reply to a question informed that in Lok Sabha government has accepted the establishment of 8 medical colleges in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh regions.

The process is at the various stages of implementation for these medical colleges. In the UT of J&K, these medical colleges will be laid in the districts of Doda, Kathua, Baramulla, Anantnag, Rajouri, Udhampur, Handwara (Dist. Kupwara) and in the UT of Ladakh it will be in the district of Leh.

Kishan Reddy also informed in the Lok Sabha that in lieu of 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) allowances like Children Education Allowance, Hostel Allowance, Transport Allowance, LTC, Fixed Medical Allowance that were till now not being given to nearly 4.5 lakh State Government employees in the previous State of Jammu and Kashmir have been now permitted, the estimate for which comes to about Rs 4800 crore. By this, the employees working in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh, since the day these new Union Territories came into existence will be benefitted.

After the removal of 370 and declaration of the two union territories, a total of Rs 14,559.25 crore has been given to the states. Out of this total amount, Rs 2,977.31 crore has been released to the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and Rs 1,275.99 to the UT of Ladakh to date.

Kishan Reddy also updated the Lok Sabha in a written reply that 84 Pakistan-based terrorists have tried to make infiltration attempts since August 2019 and 59 terrorists had entered inside the Indian border. He also gave the data that our security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have killed 22,557 terrorists since 1990 and destroyed 1,011 terrorists. He also said 42 terrorists have been detained and 2253 have been pushed back due to well-organized and vigilant security forces from 2005 till October 31, 2019.

As per Reddy’s report Infiltration attempts were made as a substitute for the war agenda in order to refill the depleted terrorist strength in the valley to attain its intention to increase violent behavior in Jammu and Kashmir and then to internationalize the issue. The security forces are extra careful and are ready with their persistent power operations; surprise attack and patrolling are being conducted to completely stop the infiltration attempts. In addition, a healthy counter-infiltration network is in place to avoid infiltration attempts.
