Jaish-E-Mohammad Terror Group Sympathiser Arrested In Awantipora

Today (23.12.2019) security forces arrested an important terrorist associate of prohibited terror outfit Jash-e-Mohmmad in Jammu and Kashmir’s Awantipora. Rafiq Maqbool was involved in providing all kinds of logistics and support to the terrorists of Pakistan-based terror groups in Tralarea (It is a town, sub-district and a notified area committee in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, India, situated 11 km from NH1 Awantipora) according to security forces.

During the search operation of village Syedabad Pastoona, Sheikh was arrested. Our Security forces have recovered crime material from Sheikh’s possession and a case under pertinent sections of law has been registered at police station Trial.

One more active terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba was arrested by security forces in another successful operation. The terrorist was identified as Saddam Mir of Brath Kalan, he was arrested in Sopore along with arms and ammunition. Mir is a close associate of Sajad, a hardcore LeT terrorist, further grilling is going on.

A Pakistan based terrorist group of Jaish-e-Mohammed or JeM, whose primary motive is to separate Kashmir from India and combine it with Pakistan. Since its beginning in 2000, the terror group has carried out several attacks in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It shows Kashmir as a “gateway” to entire India. After liberating Kashmir, it aims to carry its ‘jihad’ to other parts of India, with intent to drive Hindus and other non-Muslims from the Indian subcontinent.

The Jaish-e-Mohammed or JeM group has also been held charged for carrying out deadly attacks on Pathankot airbase in January 2016 and also on an Army camp in Uri in September 2016. The attacks claimed the lives of 23 security personnel.

The group also supported Lashkar-e-Taiba in the 2001 Indian parliament attacks. It has collaboration with several terror outfits such as the Taliban and Al-Qaida. Their current leader is Masood Azhar. The group although, banned in Pakistan since 2002 has surfaced under many others’ names and continues to operate in the country. India has also called for UN action against LeT and JeM and “their shadowy supporters”.
