WeWork is found to be one of the newsmakers of 2019, co-working and space-as-a-service platform, has recently announced the appointment of Kirthiga Reddy “Former Managing Director of Facebook India” to its board.  She will be holding the post of, technology executive and Partner at SoftBank Investment Advisers, and her profile would be to bring a wealth of relevant product, marketing, and technology expertise to WeWork’s member-focused business.

Marcelo Claure, the Executive Chairman of WeWork during the announcement of the appointment, said, “Kirthiga would be a valuable asset to WeWork as they continue to develop new digital products and services which would improve the member experience and to manage their global platform effectively.”

However, Reddy Since 2018, has been a Partner at SoftBank Investment Advisers, overseeing investments in companies such as Collective Health, which is transforming the healthcare economy.

Before joining SoftBank Investment Advisers, Reddy had worked with Facebook for over seven years. It was her first-ever India employee and Managing Director, Facebook India and South Asia.

Kirthiga is an MBA from Stanford University and began her career in engineering and technology roles. Currently, she is also an advisory council member to Fortune’s Most Powerful Women International and before that was Chair, Stanford Business School Management Board. Reddy is a key executive sponsor of SoftBank Investment Advisers’ Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, which encompass diversity across underrepresented minorities, gender, LGBTQ, first-generation college graduates, among other affinity groups.

Kirthiga, on her new role, said, “She is thrilled to join the board at WeWork, a company where the SoftBank Vision Fund continues to see incredible potential in the product and platform.” 

Recent changes occurred at the company would mark a new and exciting chapter for WeWork. She is someone who has built tremendous businesses in-market and helped lead global teams, and now she would look forward to guiding management in product development, marketing, and diversity and inclusion efforts. 

In fact, Reddy would also sit on WeWork’s board keeping in mind the interest of Softbank, one of the investors of WeWork. The same was mentioned by Claure that, they had sought a director who adds strategic value to their business as implemented in their five-year plan would be working in collaboration with the SoftBank Vision Fund. Claire further added that now she is looking forward to the influences of Krithiga for the decisions for WeWork and helping to create inclusive and relevant policies.
