National Digital Health Blueprint

Since a long-time effort was going on by the Indian government to integrate technology into healthcare programs. Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Health Minister, released the National Digital Health Blueprint (NDHB) report on July 15, 2019.

National Digital Health Blueprint aspires to create a National Digital Health Eco-system that will support Universal Health Coverage in an inclusive, easily accessible, affordable, efficient, timely and safe manner. This was also the successful achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to provide doorstep services to each individual in the country under Digital India Programme. The digital blueprint will ensure a wider reach of healthcare services through the provision of a wide range of data, information and infrastructure services. At the same time, it will ensure security, confidentiality and privacy of health-related personal information.

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also said that the government is committed to ensuring high-quality healthcare for all. He requested to all the concerned stakeholders to provide valuable inputs to the National Digital Health Blueprint to make it more inclusive.

Harsh Vardhan further added that they had already created history by launching “Ayushman Bharat Yojana” which is already operational on a robust IT platform. The Health Minister sustained by saying that other IT enabled schemes such as Nikshay and Reproductive Child Healthcare are also benefitting the patients with right service delivery at the right time. He added by saying that there is a need to ensure unity across these IT systems to monitor and provide health services in a healthy and well-organized manner and therefore, an integrated e-Health system under the National Digital Health Blueprint can bring about a digital revolution in healthcare.

In this declaration of National Digital Health Blueprint (NDHB) report on July 15, 2019, by Dr. Harsh Vardhan many stakeholders Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Smt Preeti Sudan, Secretary (HFW), Shri. J. Satyanarayana, Former Chairman-UIDAI and Chairman of Committee on NDHB, Shri Sanjeeva Kumar, AS & DG (CGHS), AS (Health) and Shri Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, also graced the occasion.

 

The Union Health Minister appealed to all the stakeholders to provide their valuable feedback on www.mohfw.gov.in on National Digital Health Blueprint which will be available for three weeks. And inputs to make this digital revolution in healthcare more inclusive and collaborative and to help the Government in building a stronger nation as a collective endeavor.  Emphasizing the integration of various digital health services, Dr. Harsh Vardhan revealed that it is the need of the hour to create an ecosystem which can integrate the existing health information systems into Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Dr. Harsh Vardhan also informed that the health ministry had created a committee to generate an implementation framework for the National Digital Health Blueprint. For this, responsibility is given to the former IT secretary and Ex-UIDAI chairperson J. Satyanarayana and he has been deputed as the committee chairman for the same.

He further added that lots of comments and suggestions are coming on National Digital Health Blueprint from both government and private sectors. Very soon the training of healthcare workers will be started in all the states and districts.
