In the honor of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated a 25 feet bronze statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Lucknow’s Lok Bhawan on Wednesday (25.12.2019). This was a tribute to Vajpayee’s birth anniversary, who was one of the founders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The trusted sources told Zee Media that all preparations for the event have been completed and security officers have already scrutinized the area to ensure foolproof security before the arrival of PM Modi at the venue. It is learned that the venue has also been cross-examined with the help of a sniffer dog and bomb detectors.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandi Ben Patel also accompanied PM Modi during the event. In addition to this, the prime minister is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University in the state. Particularly, the Uttar Pradesh government has already announced its decision to transfer 50 acres of land for this purpose.

Vajpayee – was also labeled as a ‘politician with a difference’. He was the Prime Minister of India for a short period in 1996, and then from 1998 to 2004. He was bestowed with India’s highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna by President Pranab Mukherjee in 2015. December 25th, His birthday is marked as Good Governance Day. He slowly removed from public life due to his ill health and died on August 16, 2018, due to age-related illness.

Biography of Vajpayee

This great leader was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He had joined politics at the age of 18 years when the Quit India Movement was launched in 1942. He was elected to Parliament 10 times, from 1957 – 2009, and as Minister for External Affairs in the Janata Party government; he was an excellent orator and an excellent administrator. He had to face several hurdles after becoming prime minister, but with his strong determination, he managed to implement several development programs that strengthened the country’s economy.
