RIL Tycoon Mukesh Ambani launches India’s Smartphone: Price, Features & Specifications
Top events on Friday witnessed Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani, unveiling his year-old venture’s new product JioPhone at the 40th Reliance Annual General Meeting 2017. The newly launched JioPhone is a 4G VoLTE enabled phone.
Ambani is leaving no stones unturned in the launch and promotion of JioPhone. The business tycoon called the newly launched phone as ‘India ka Smartphone’. The JioPhone will be available for free with a minimum deposit of Rs. 1500, which can be refunded after three years on returning the phone. The phone will, therefore, be available at an effective price of zero.
The JioPhone is loaded with features like Alpha-numeric keypad, 2.4-inch QGVA Display, 4GB Expandable SD Card Slot, all-language support features, Internet browsing, long battery backup, and more.
PRICE
The effective price of the newly launched JioPhone will be 0. The phone is available at as low a price of Rs. 1500, which will be refundable after three years time.
JioPhone seems to be a good initiative from the side of Reliance Industries. The phone has ample enabled features and the price of the phone compared to its features is relatively nothing. Jio also offers to its customers two data plans -a weekly plan of Rs. 54 and a two-day plan of Rs. 24, along with the monthly installment of Rs 153, including the cost of the phone. The plans would enable features like free voice calls, and unlimited free data from August 15.

FEATURES
The phone comes loaded with a number of features and preloaded with all the Jio applications like Jio Music, Jio Cinema, etc.
The prominent features include:
1) Alpha-numeric keypad
2) SD card slot
3) Battery with charger
4) 4-way navigation system
5) Pre-loaded Jio applications
6) FM & Torch Light
7) MicroPhone and Speaker
8) Inbuilt ringtones.
The phone also avails an inbuilt SOS feature which can be activated by pressing the key 5. The Near Field Communication (NFC) system enables quick payments, and the facility to store the credit/debit card payments for future usage.
The JioPhone, a product of Reliance Jio, the fourth-generation telecom unit of Reliance Industries Limited, will be made in India.
AVAILABILITY
The phone will enter the market sphere for beta testing from August 15 and the pre-booking will start from August 24. The JioPhone will be available on a first-come first-serve basis from the month of September, with a set target of 5 million JioPhones every week.
