Sushma Swaraj Is No More: Very Hard To Believe

Sushma Swaraj, former external affairs minister and senior BJP leader passed away on Tuesday night (6th August 2019) in the late hours. She was 67 years old. She suffered a cardiac arrest around 9.30pm at her home and then was immediately rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi in a critical condition at 9.50 pm and was taken to the emergency ward. AIIMS doctors said she died of a cardiac arrest.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said a lot about her in his consecutive tweets, one of the tweets highlighted of PM Modi was “A glorious chapter in Indian politics came to an end. India grieves the demise of a remarkable leader who devoted her life to public service and bettering the lives of the poor. Sushma Swaraj Ji was one of her kind, who was a source of inspiration for crores of people,”

A lot of senior ministers, including Harsh Vardhan, Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Prakash Javadekar, Ravi Shankar, etc. reached AIIMS immediately.

Swaraj had tweeted in the evening congratulating PM Modi after the Centre’s move to revoke Article 370A in Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the border state into two Union Territories secured Parliament’s approval. Her last words tweeted to PM Modi is shown below.

Sushma Ji was an excellent administrator and had always set high standards in every Ministerial position, she handled. She played a key role in bettering India’s ties with various nations. As a minister she had a very compassionate side too, helping fellow Indians who were in distress in any part of the world.

“Extremely shocked to hear of the passing of Smt Sushma Swaraj. The country has lost a much-loved leader who epitomized dignity, courage & integrity in public life. Ever willing to help others, she will always be remembered for her service to the people of India,” President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted. All the people were deeply shocked and anguished by the sudden demise of an extremely valued person. Swaraj was not keeping well; she had a kidney transplant in 2016 and had chosen out of contesting Lok Sabha polls, this year for health reasons. She is survived by her husband Swaraj Kaushal and daughter Bansuri.
