This update with respect to CAA protest is on the previous incidents which took place in the month of December 2019.
Recently the two videos from the library of Jamia University have refreshed the matter and brought into light, the truth of the Jamia incident. What exactly had happened on December 15, when the police allegedly entered the campus without permission and were trying to arrest the unknown culprits, who had entered the campus with stones in their hands.

One of the video, circulated by the Jamia students, showed the police using batons on the people inside. The CCTV footage was released by an association of Jamia students and alumni on Sunday (16.02.2020) which showed a group of students sitting in the university’s Old Reading Hall (M. Phil Section). Unexpectedly several policemen in rebellion manner are seen walking in and beating up the students with batons. A man being beaten tries to stoop the blows. Before the police moves in, there is turmoil in the room, as a man sitting at a desk hides under a table. Another is seen speeding up around looking to hide.

Another video, sent by police sources, showed a group of at least 50 people — allegedly protesters — entering inside the library, in the beginning and some of them barricaded the door with huge tables. The CCTV footage from the police sources revealed that the Reading Room, where a group of people, many of them dressed in hoodies, rushed in. One of them was seen holding a stone. After they were inside, some men banned the door with tables.
It appeared that the police action on students in the library took place for several hours after a protest march organised by the students against the Citizenship Amendment Act ended in a pitched battle.
The mob then threw stones at the police when their march to the city centre was stopped. The police then hit back with batons and tear gas. On anti CAA protest they had set ablaze three buses and several two wheelers. A fire was wrecked and two firemen were injured.
The video circulated by the students showed a political storm. The Congress started blaming on the government and said it showed the brutality of the police on unarmed students, the BJP claimed that it proved that students involved in the turmoil had taken shelter in the library.
Senior party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of Congress tweeted in Hindi, revealing that the video had showed clear cut evidence that the Delhi police claim that they had not entered the library was false. Wanted to show how the Delhi Police is badly thrashing the students. A boy is reading a book but a cop continues to beat him. Home Minister (Amit Shah) and Delhi Police had lied that they had not entered the library and thrashed the students.
Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said, it is a fact that the police have mercilessly beaten the students. We all know that. It is a shameful act. It is very unfortunate that such an incident took place.
Rather on the day of the event, the police denied entering the library. And also senior police officer MS Randhawa said the police had entered the areas where “basically tear gas was used”. By saying this police have tried to put a shelter on the whole incident.
The Truth of the Video
After the comments of Congress party, in a series of tweets, Amit Malviya — in charge of the BJP’s information cell — said the students had intentionally made this video viral just to create the sympathetic grounds and demanded Rs 2 crores as the mark of compensation. So, the Jamia Coordination Committee, which released the video, was incorrect.
It is very simple to understand does anyone sit by covering their face in the library, even though if one says that they might have covered due to tear gas, but no one will carry stones in their hands along with them or rising anti nation slogans said Amit Malviya — in charge of the BJP’s information cell. But still the investigations are under process.
