Varkala has a beautiful beach alongside a cliff that is renowned for its solitude unlike any other commercial beaches of Goa/ Gokarna. The calmness and simplicity of this place is inimitable. Also known as the Papanasam beach meaning ‘Destroyer of Sins’ , this beach is unlike any other beach in the area with such an impeccable beauty. Its water is considered to have own medicinal and curative properties. A dip in the holy water is said to cleanse the body of impurities and all sins and thus the name Papanasam Beach. To add to its beauty this place also offers Ayurveda therapies and Yoga treatments that not only rekindle your body but also your soul.

The cliff stretching to approximately 5kms is a business hub for many people from nearby states mainly Bangalore and Tamil Nadu to showcase their art. You will find variety of shops offering antique jewelry, footwear and beach wear. Foreigners from different parts of the world prefer staying there for 2-3 months from December till March. The resorts and restaurants on the beach offers wide range of cuisines from seafood to Tibetan delight, from north Indian Thali to Kerala’s delightful fish curry and all under affordable price bucket.
