So the first match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between England and South Africa brings the warm-up session to an end.

The first match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 started with a Bang. England beat South Africa and won the match by 104-runs.

England 311 for 8 (Stoke 89, Root 51, Ngidi 3-66, Morgan 57, Roy 54,) beat South Africa, 207 (de Kock 68, van der Dussen 50, Archer 3-27) by 104 runs.

However, England lost a wicket to the 2nd ball, but never their nerve. England began its quest with a 104-run win by beating South Africa in the tournament opener at the Oval on Thursday.

Ben Stokes, the all-rounder was the top scorer of the day. He scored 89 in England’s 311 for 8. For a while it looked like Stokes would be the first centurion of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. However, his decision to play a reverse pull against Lungi Ngidi turned out to be a mistake, Strokes fell 11 runs short. Stokes held a brilliant catch and took 2 wickets for 12. England won the match with 61 balls left. Ben Stokes paced his innings brilliantly after skipper Eoin Morgan became Imran Tahir’s second victim.

Though, the Initial damage was done by England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer, who took three for 27 in seven over’s. Jofra took the wickets of Faf du Plessis and Aiden Markram.

Rassie van der Dussen and Quinton de Kock gave South Africa a hope with their 3rd wicket partnership of 85. But when JP Duminy was sent back by Moeen Ali in the 26th over and de Kock fell to Liam Plunkett for 68 in the 23rd over and, it was all but over for South Africa.

In the 2nd innings, Archer returned to the attack and accounted for der Dussen (50) and South Africa was staring at their defeat.

Earlier in the day, South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl. The England batters were going great till the 37th over. However, when Morgan got out, England lost their way completely.
