India won the 2023 SAFF championship on 4th July 2023. The match organised by the South Asian Football Federation(SAFF) was the 14th edition of this championship.
The match was held in Sree Kanteerava stadium in Bangalore, India. In the match India were the defenders defeating Kuwait on penalties in the finals and became the champions again.
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka Kuwait were the other participants.
The top scorer was India’s Sunil Chhetri who scored 7 goals. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was the best goalkeeper who saved two penalties.
The victory was a major boost for Indian Football and will definitely take India to the next level of global football.
