Nothing, the new tech company founded by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, has launched its second smartphone, the Nothing Phone 2. The Phone 2 is a major upgrade over the Phone 1, which was a design-focused device with a see-through glass back and a strip of LEDs called glyphs. The Phone 2 retains the same design language, but adds more power, performance, and features to compete with the flagship phones of 2023. Here are some of the unique features of the Nothing Phone 2 that make it stand out from the crowd.

Nothing Phone 2

Glyph Interface

The Glyph Interface is Nothing’s signature feature that uses a strip of LEDs on the back of the phone to display notifications, battery status, and other information. The Phone 2 improves on this feature by adding more customization options, more glyphs, and more third-party app support. For example, you can now use glyphs to track your Uber booking progress, control your music playback, or check your heart rate. You can also create your own glyphs using the Nothing app or download them from the Glyph Store. The Glyph Interface is not only eye-catching, but also useful and fun.

Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC

The Phone 2 is one of the first phones to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC, which is a 5nm chipset that offers up to 20% faster performance and 30% lower power consumption than the previous generation. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 also supports advanced features like AI Engine 7th Gen, Spectra 680 ISP, FastConnect 7800 Subsystem, and Snapdragon Sound. The Phone 2 comes with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage to ensure smooth multitasking and fast data transfer.

AMOLED Display with 120Hz Refresh Rate

The Phone 2 sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The display offers vibrant colors, deep blacks, and high brightness. The high refresh rate makes scrolling and gaming more fluid and responsive. The display also supports HDR10+ and DCI-P3 color gamut for enhanced contrast and color accuracy. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, which is the toughest glass ever made by Corning.

50MP Primary Camera with OIS

The Phone 2 features a quad-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 5MP macro camera. The primary camera uses a Sony IMX766 sensor with a large f/1.8 aperture and a pixel size of 1.0µm. It can capture stunning photos and videos in any lighting condition, thanks to the OIS, PDAF, HDR, and Night Mode features. The Phone 2 can also record 8K videos at 30fps or 4K videos at 60fps with EIS.

Wireless Charging and Reverse Charging

The Phone 2 packs a 4,500mAh battery that supports fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse charging. The phone comes with a 65W fast charger in the box that can charge the phone from zero to 100% in just 30 minutes. The phone also supports wireless charging up to 15W and reverse charging up to 10W. This means you can use the phone to charge other devices like earbuds or smartwatches wirelessly.

These are some of the unique features of the Nothing Phone 2 that make it a worthy contender in the flagship smartphone market.
