The ultimate co-founder of the Facebook-owned WhatsApp co-founder quits in order to relish his time with his cool-breeze Porsches, work on his cars and of course chill with his Frisbee!
With a private note, On Monday, Jan Koum,42 had revealed that he would be signing off the application which he initiated in 2009 with Brian Acton, 46.It was social networking tycoon, Mark Zuckerberg, who bought the company for over $22billion in cash and stock, four years ago, thus, making the duo billionaires within a night’s time!
Although the exact date of his leaving has still not being revealed but winding-up his confirmed departure, the reports have unfolded that Jan Koum, who grabs a chair among the Facebook’s board of directors have had a heated brawl over Facebook’s stockpiling of the Whatsapp’s private data and it’s implementation in the advertising during the forthcoming business model.
According to the revelation of The Washington Post, he also cited the avouched plan to thin out the encryption of the WhatsApp messenger which currently comprises of over one-billion-plus messages, which are only operative to the sender and the receiver!
The end-to-end encryption available on the Whatsapp messenger mishmashes the message while it is in the shipment phase but it had at least been devoid from the outer eyes, which even included Facebook.However, it is credulous that Koum decided to quit preceding the Facebook’s involvement in the acclaimed Cambridge Analytica data abuse detraction.
“It’s been almost a decade since Brian and I started WhatsApp, and it’s been an amazing journey with some of the best people. But it is time for me to move on.”, Kuom expressed on his personal Facebook page!
He also added,”I’ve been blessed to work with such an incredibly small team and see how a crazy amount of focus can produce an app used by so many people all over the world.”
Signing off he further cited,“I’m leaving at a time when people are using WhatsApp in more ways than I could have imagined. The team is stronger than ever, and it’ll continue to do amazing things. I’m taking some time off to do things I enjoy outside of technology, such as collecting rare air-cooled Porsches, working on my cars and playing ultimate frisbee. I’ll still be cheering WhatsApp on, just from the outside.”
Kuom also received a token of appreciation from the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg on the Facebook where he jotted down, “I will miss working so closely with you. I’m grateful for everything you’ve done to help connect the world, and for everything you’ve taught me, including about encryption and its ability to take power from centralized systems and put it back in people’s hands. Those values will always be at the heart of WhatsApp.”
According to Forbes, Kuom is claimed to possess a cash flow of approximately around $9.1 billion, whereas the Whatsapp co-founder Brian Acton, who has recently been in the news for persuading the Facebook users to delete their accounts all over world claims to have a net worth of over $5.7 billion, thus making former stand at the position of 170 and the latter at number 251, among the elite billionaires list in the world.
